Texas Longhorn Festival Sale

Yesterday I went up to Okalahoma and went to the TLMA's first Texas Longhorn Festival Sale...it was a pretty good sale with good attendence and went fast! They did a great job going through the 200+ sale items! Looking forward to the Best of Texas Sale in Navasota!

2008 Cowtown Classic Texas Longhorn Cattle Sale

Well, I decided to listen in on the Cowtown Classic sale today over the internet. It was quite good! There were some audio issues at first, but, they worked them out and sitting at the ranch watching the auction was quite nice! When I first decided to listen in, I was just looking to see what was for sale...of course, that did not work for me and I ended up purchasing two cows at the sale!

The first cow was G&L Apple Crisp from Gene and Lana Hightower. Apple Crisp (Double L's Emperor X G&L Applejack) is a nice Emperor granddaughter that is exposed to PCC Generader, one of the nicest grandson's of Gunman!

The second cow was from Ron and Barbara Marquess' Ranch named FL Emma Mae (Classy Hot Shot X Classy Little Star). She is a nice, solid brown that is very clean and her mother was quite a star as well! In addition, she is bred by DH Red Ranger! What a star he is!

CWR Bonita Joya has her calf!!!

And they just keep on coming!!! CWR Bonita Joya had her first calf yesterday at the F BAR Ranch. Bonita Joya is a joy that we purchased from Carol and Wes Chancey at C & W Longhorns when we first got into the business. Bonita Joya is the daughter of PCC Keyman (a GREAT Gunman son) and TexAnne Fina out of the Lucy Creek program. This calf is out of BH Mr Smokey, a beautiful young Dark Star Chex son that is part of the C & W breeding program! I think this calf is going to be one of those keepers for years to come!
